June 2013 Favorites

June is coming to a close which means I'm one month closer to going back to school. :/ To lighten the spirit I've gathered all my favorite products into a pile (a literal pile just sitting on my desk), and now I'm gonna tell you why they are awesome.

Essie: Penny Talk

Might as well start with nails! I have been wearing this color for almost 2 weeks now, and I love it! It's one of those colors that complement my skin tone really well. I love it and I'm not entirely sure if the still sell it, but I'm sure you can get it on Amazon.

Milani Brow Fix Brow Kit: 02 Medium

Let's talk brows! I have pretty much not existent eyebrows, they are the lightest shade of blond possible, which makes no sense considering I have super dark brown hair. Needless to say, I have to fill in my eyebrows with a powder or a pencil. Lately I've been going for a powder, this powder in particular. I use the Brow 2 shade, which I know may seem a little dark for my skin tone, but with a light hand, and good blending, works just fine. I like the highlight color, too, it's nice and subtle, and just lights up your eye area. Definite favorite!

Cailyn Gel Eyeliner: Iron
Next is a product that I got in my June Ipsy bag. I love this eyeliner! I've never liked a gel eyeliner as much as I've liked this one, and the built in brush isn't shitty, like they usually are! I actually like to use this one! This is a bit pricey, but I think it's worth it.

Maybelline: The Falsies Macasra

Not much to say about this product. A favorite of most everyone who wears make-up, and I finally jumped on the band wagon. I must say it's pretty damn good, but on the wetter side.

Starlooks Lip Pencil: Tickle Me Pink

Rimmel Kate Moss Matte Lipstick: #103

In the past month I have loved pairing these two lip products together. They complement each other so well. I shade my lips in using the lip pencil, which for me is a little dark for summer. To lighten it up I put the lipstick on top, which not only makes it a bit shinier (I know, matte lipstick it's really not matte it has a nice sheen), and makes it lighter. I love it!

This is all for my June Favorites, don't forget to leave any suggestions, questions, or comments in the comment section below. Until next time...

Review: Kate Moss for Rimmel Matte Lipstick

Happy Wednesday Guys!
I hope your excited for the weekend, because I sure as hell am!

Today I wanted to do a review on a red lipstick (shocker!). But this is just not a red lipstick, oh no no no, it's a matte red lipstick, kinda. You see it's the Rimmel lasting finish by Kate lipstick in Kiss of Life. When I was shopping in target the other day, I noticed this was the only Kate Moss lipstick that has a name. All the others are identified by a 3 digit number, but this one has a 3 digit number (111), and a name! I took that to mean it was special, and I was right!

This lipsticks finish is not matte. I think it's more of a suede finish, because it really has no sheen, but the light does catch it a bit. I really really like this lipstick, and for the 4 dollars it costs it's definately worth it!

Lipstick wear through the day, the last being after I'd eaten lunch.

Review: Olay BB Cream

One of the newest beauty crazes that has come to market are BB creams. Who doesn't want something that takes all these little steps that are tedious, and boring, and rolls them into one simple step. This is exactly why I like BB creams. They're, in essence, amped up tinted moisturizer, which is always a good thing.

This particular BB cream, is from the drugstore. I got mine at Target, and it contains 2.5 fl oz (75ml). I'm not entirely sure how much I paid for it but it was somewhere areound $12.

This isn't the best BB cream I've tried but it's certainly not the worst. It's a very watery consistancy when one your face, and it doesn't seep into your skin most foundations and tinted moisturizers do. It has a very light feeling foundation, but honestly it doesn't do anything for me. It doesn't conceal the redness on my face, which is the main reason that I wear any foundation at all. The only thing I've known it to do is be an amazing sunscreen, but it doesn't do any of the other stuff it claims to do. I would much more recommend the Garnier BB cream than this one. So go try that one, because it's great. If you have any recommendations for BB creams I should try leave them in the comments below, and I might just do them. Also if you have any requests of things I should review leave those in the comments too. Until next time...

Daily Hair Care Routine

So today, when I was putting my hair up in it's usually messy top knot, I was amazed by how soft it was compared to some of my friends. After giving it some thought, I've come to the conclusion that there were several reasons, ranging from up-keep, to products that I use, that keep it soft, smooth, and, most importantly, healthy.

Reason 1: NO DYE

I have never dyed my hair, which may come as a surprise to you, because in some lights, my hair looks like it has highlights, but those are completely natural. The most damaging thing I've ever done to my hair is getting a spiral perm in fifth grade. I'm not implying that dying your hair is bad, but if you don't take care of it properly, it can really damage your hair. Also, if you do it yourself, you can really hurt your hair with the dye/bleach.

Reason 2: Heatstyling Minimum

I hardly ever heat style my hair, and when I do, I use a shitload of heat protectant. My favorite is the Nexxus Heat Protection Styling Spray. To keep my hair healthy, I've come up with no heat hairstyles that I wear on most days, leaving the heat styling for special occasions.

Reason 3: Shampoo and Conditioner

My hair hates product. Which is why I shampoo it every day. My hair also easily tangles, which is why I use tons of conditioner, to keep it soft and smooth. I shampoo my hair twice and brush through it each time with a shower comb, which you can get at walmart for like 3 bucks, and then I conditon the shit out of it. I make sure I work it into the ends of my hair, never putting it in my scalp, because it just makes my hair oily, and then let it sit in my hair for about 3 or 4 minutes. Then I rinse it out, but I don't comb through it afterwards, as it can break my hair. Then I let it air dry, and put leave in conditioner on the ponytail section when it's damp.

These are some of the products that I use in my hair:
Nexxus Heat Protection Styling Spray

Bed Head Urban Anti+dotes Damage Level 1 Shampoo and Conditioner

It's a 10 Miracle Leave-In Lite

I hope you guys enjoyed this post, and if you have any hair care tips and tricks, feel free to leave them in the comment section below. Until next time...

Summer Reading List: Part 1/3

So this summer I've decided to go back to one of my past loves, reading. Lately I haven't been making as much time for books as I should, so I've come up with a list of books that I want to read before the end of June. This list might give you some ideas, and if you want me to review any of these books, you can let me know in the comments. :)

-Beneath the Glitter:Elle and Blair Fowler
-Luxe:Anna Gobersen
-Thursday's Child:Monique Martin
-Crazy Rich Asians:Kevin Kwan
-Casual Vacancy:J.K. Rowling

Now I know this isn't a long list, and I hope to fit in more than this, but I'm going on vacation soon, and there's only a week left in the month. I hope that I can fit these books and then some. If you have any book requests, or want a review on any of these books let me know. Until next time...

Review: Que Bella Deep Cleansing Aloe Vera Cream Mask

Whilst I was roming around Target picking up a few of my esentials I wandered down the body aisle, the aisle with all the body butters, shower gels, eye masks, face masks, and hand and foot creams you could want. Exactly what I needed too! I hardly ever get zits, and there was one forming on my chin as I stood there and contemplated which one to get. In the end I picked 3, but in this post I'm only reviewing one, the Que Bella Deep Cleansing Aloe Vera Cream Mask.

The back of the packet that this mask comes in says: "Our mask is specifically formulated to target problem areas of oily, normal and T-Zone skin. It gets to work on application helping to cleanse acne-prone skin keeping it in check and helping to moisturize, nourish and rejuvenate." Those are some big claims, and I do have oily skin, and T-Zone problems so I decided it was worth a shot. It was only 2 bucks, so I said why not.

On the night that I applied and tested out this product a friend did it with, as facials are always more fun when more then one person is involved. We both applied the mask, which is a globby, jelly kind of texture to our faces and waited the 15 minutes as instructed.

Upon application the mask was cold on your skin, but not unbearable. After about one minute of having it on, we both agreed that our skin started to tingle and feel a bit itchy, but in a good way. After about 5 or so minutes the mask hardened, and the skin began to feel tight. At this point you began to feel it opening your pores and really doing some good.

When removing it slid off easily. On my nose I noticed that it had hardened to the point where it flaked off and took some extra rubbing to remove as it had hardened to my nose.

Once removed both of us noticed the immediate softness that came to our face. My skin was so soft, and even though my zit was still waging war on my chin, the rest of my face felt pretty damn good. We also noticed that our skin felt lighter and looked lighter, and it had a nice, clean, glow to it. It left your face refreshed and cool to the touch, which might not be good for some people, but it was good for me. :) Here are some during and after pictures of my skin. I forgot to take before pictures, but I promise next time I will.

You can see that alot of the redness in my face disappeared and my skin feels so much better! I realy love this mask. I wouldn't nessicarily say it's made for removing blemishes or for removing the starts of them, but my face does feel a hell of alot better, so I would say it's worth 2 bucks. If you have tried this, let me know what you think in the comments below. Until next time...

Posting Schedule

Hello Dah-lings!

It is currently very late at night, but I want to get this written in time to go up tommorow. As it is summer and I have nothing better to do with my time (literally I live in the middle of fucking no where) I have decided to challenge myself and make a commitment that I actually stick to, so get ready!

During these summer months, which range from now until the the first week of September (yes I'm aware I go back to school super late) I will be posting at least every other day. So for example, this is going up on Thursday, so a new post will go up on Saturday.

Now on those same lines, if I have a super quick post that I really want to talk to you guys about, I'll post that on an off day, or on the same day as a regular post, but there will always (hopefully) be a post on every other day.

So, yay! Structure! *sighs because she knows she will fail miserably*

And don't you worry, because there will be another post today, as this isn't a real post, it is a bit of an update more than anything so another post is coming shortly. (Also, if I seem hyper in this post, sorry I'm listening to the Black Keys, my favorite band of all time ever, and it is really late, so yeah, I'm a bit crazy.) So until next time...

June Ipsy Bag

I recently joined Ipsy out of the pure jealousy of watching other people unbox their bags on youtube. I was previously subscribed to Birchbox, but I want more make-up. Birchbox is good if you're looking for a lifestyle box, but I was seeing more make-up in Ispy so I canceled my birchbox subscription and joined Ipsy! I was very pleased with this month's bag, and I have tried (almost) everything out, so I'll grant you with a mini review on each product. I'll also add the total value at the end of this post. If I like this, I might just make this a monthly thing that I do, and as always let me know your thoughts and opinions in the comments below. Now, onto the box!...erm, bag, whatever.

Let us start off with the most disappointing product, and the one that I can't see myself ever using at any point in time, and that is the J Cat Sparkling Cream Palette. Now you're probably thinking, oh!, eye glitter, a little 12 year old girl-ish, but could still be useful at one point in time. WRONG! It's not eye glitter it's body glitter and it can be very harmful to your eyes. Not that the packaging suggests any of this, I had to look it up online. There is no indication of what it should be used for, or any warning that it can be potentially harmful to your eyes. That is one reason why I don't like this product. The second reson is it isn't a good glitter. It is chunky and gritty in all the wrong ways and it looks obbrasive and high-school-cheerleader when you put it on. It looks to young for me, and I am quite young so I can't imagine what the older women who recieved this are thinking. I am just not a fan and plan to give this away or throw it away as soon as possible.

Next up is another product from J Cat: false eyelashes in EL42. They're very dramatic and the only product that I haven't tried yet, so let me know if you want a review. I don't wear false lashes on a day to day basis, so I'm waiting for a special occassion to wear them on. I'm hoping that they'll raise my respect for the brand a little bit, and I think they would look very nice as demis.

Next up is a product from a brand i actually knew about before this bag and it is a NYX Mosaic Blush in Dare. It has 5 different colors in it that ranges from purple to pink to bronze. The way it's laid out is convient, the bronzey shades together and the purple/pink shades together. It's very easy to get all off the colors or only a few. It is VERY pigmented and a little goes a long way so 1 swirl of the entire product with cover both of your cheeks fine. The only drawback I have is that it smells like old school cosmetics, the wierd powdery smell that reminds me of my grandmother and not in good way. Since it's not really noticable when you have it on I can live with it and other than that, it's the only bad thing I have to say about it.

Next up is my second favorite item from the whole bag, the Starlooks Lip Pencil in Tickle me Pink. I have been going through this phase lately were I take a dark lipstick and layer a lighter one on top of it to make it more summery. This is exactly what I've been doing with this lipstick! It is so creamy and a really pretty bright pink, perfect for layering underneath and also perfect for wearing on it's own. It sets in a demi-matte finish and doesn't settle into fine lines. Just to be safe I would do a liptreatment and the night before I was going to wear this alone. I really like this lip pencil, not only the shade, but the formula and the brand. I would definately recommend this product.

Last, but definately not least is my favorite product out of the whole bag, the Cailyn gel eyeliner in the shade Iron. There are 2 reasons why I love this product. One, it has a built in brush that makes it super easy to travel with, and to even take in your purse if you would want to touch it up throughout the day. Two, it is an awesome shade! Usually I don't like to wear eyeliner that isn't just plain black on my upper lashline. In fact I usually don't go for colored eyeliner at all, but I really like this one! It is easy to apply, easy to control and looks really good with brownish black mascara, so if you're going for a more natural look this is a great eyeliner to use.

P.S.-The nail polish I'm wearing is Penny Talk by Essie. :)

My overall thoughts on my first Ipsy bag is 4/5. The only thing I can't see myself using is the body glitter, and everything else I in this bag totally makes up for it! I love the eyeliner, and the lip pencil and the blush is good. Overall I'm really happy with my bag and it was definately worth $10, especially since the bag itself was so cute. The value of this bag is $48.98. A great deal for $10 considering all the products are full size. I am really pleased. As always leave me a comment telling me what you though of your Ipsy or Birchbox, or what you thought of mine. Until next time...

What is Messy Buns and Comfy Pants?

Hi! My name is Molly Renee, otherwise known as Little Miss Molly, an internet name I fashioned for myself, from a nickname my uncle gave me when I was younger, Little Missy. I have decided to create this blog to share with you, the person reading this, and my future self, not only my likes and dislikes, but also my take on the world. On this blog I will talk about make-up, fashion, and other girly shit alot (also I swear so...) but I will also share with you my opinions and my feelings. As I am a very opinionated person, but also a very good debater, I love to discuss these things thoroughly, so if you have any conflicting opinions, you can leave them in the comments of the post in question, as I'm sure some of my opinions will raise hell.

Now, onto you're main question, "If this is a fashion blog, why does your title sound so lazy?" Simple, because that's what I am. I'm lazy and a self described procrastinator. I love to lounge around in sweat pants, and I alost always have my hair in some kind of bun, as it's too wavy to look good in a ponytail, and half-up, half-down up-dos make me look like a human/shih tzu mix. My favorite is the topknot.

Next you're asking why comfy pants? Another thing my uncle proclaimed when he came to Thanksgiving in sweat pants. "This is to fat a day for jeans!" he said as he ate more turkey than my mother and I combined, and since that day I call my comfy bottoms, comfy pants.

So here we go a blog where I can share my thoughts and opinions on pretty much anything, and I hope you enjoy the ride just as much as I do. Let me know what you want to see (reviews, favorites, hauls, fotd, ootd, etc.) and I'll be happy to fulfill your wishes (within reason of course :P). I shall be back in the next few days with my first real post, so until then...
